Our Process

The process of remodeling can be overwhelming and there is a vast array of materials

and finishes that are available. The idesign team will listen to you and guide you through the process, from concept to completion, in a friendly and collaborative matter.   Our creative, knowledgeable, and experienced team will help you turn your vision into a beautiful and functional reality.

  1. Visit our showroom at 5550 Nicholson Lane, North Bethesda, MD 20852 or call us (301-881-1115) to set up an appointment to discuss your project. Our showroom is open every day from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.

  1. If possible, bring with you any photos of your room(s) that need renovation, photos of existing materials (i.e. kitchen cabinets that you plan on keeping), plans and renderings if already prepared, and photos that from magazines or online sites that inspire you. We really want to understand your style and color preferences.

  1. When you visit, we’ll discuss your project. We’ll listen to your vision and present you with ideas and options for cabinetry and other materials.  Our team will educate you about the products and relative differences in terms of quality and value. (If you are just purchasing materials, such as backsplash tile, and you know how much you need, we will create an invoice at the time of your visit and order the materials for you.)

  1. During your showroom visit we will take your name, address, and phone number so that we may schedule a time to come to your residence. At you home, we will assess and measure your space and offer our expert advice on how we might execute your project.

  1. After the home visit, and depending on the scope of the project, we’ll prepare design drawings or 3-D renderings to help you visualize your project. When a design agreement is reached, a detailed proposal will be prepared for you that encompasses all that was discussed and decided in terms of design.  If you have already selected your materials (cabinets, carpet, tile, etc.) from our showroom, the proposal will include the cost of labor and materials.  If not, the proposal will include only the cost of labor.  Selecting and purchasing of materials may occur subsequently.  We will provide the proposal by email if possible.

  1. If the proposal is accepted, we ask that you come into the showroom to finalize what then becomes a contract and provide required payment.

  1. For most home remodel projects, our clients are expected to pay for the cost of the project in three installments. One-third is due at the time the contract is signed, one-third is due following demolition of the space, and the balance is due upon project completion.  Smaller installations often require half of total payment at the time the contract is signed and the balance upon completion. The full cost of materials is due at the time the invoice is prepared. Our design services and home assessments are complimentary.
